Eleven students of Lovely Professional University have got selected by Nestle India Limited under a campus Placement Drive. Nestle had invited students of B.Tech Biotech, passing out 2011 batch. After the meticulous conduction of the placement drive at Shri Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium of the University, 11 students were finally selected following the Selection Criteria based on PPT, Written Test, HR Interview etc. The selected ones will join their duties on 26th July 2011.

On this occasion, the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Ms Rashmi Mittal said: “The hard working students have suitably availed of the opportunity, in the prime of their career start. It is a healthy sign that they have grabbed a coveted chance to serve and grow with a company like ‘Nestle’ of international reputation.” She added: “It is wonderful that they are going to imbibe the company’s transparent business practices, pioneering environment policy in so early an age.” She also wished: “May these promising students add more and more luster to their career in future, too.”

Syntel, Inc. the global provider of Information Technology (IT)) solutions, with global development centers in India and the United States selected 84 students from Lovely Professional University. The company’s offshore software development centers are located in Mumbai, Chennai, and Pune, India.

It invited B.Tech CSE/ IT/ECE/, EEE/ Mech Students of the year 2011 passing out batch. Students of LPU had undergone a very stringent Selection Criteria before been able to lay their hand on such a prestigious job. The Drive was conducted at Shri Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium of the University.The selected students will join their duties in June 2011. They are offered package of more than Rs 2.60 Lac per annum for their new assignments as Trainees.

Congratulating the successful students, the Chancellor of the University, Mr Ashok Mittal said: At LPU, we have seen in the past two years that IT companies have been as enthusiastic as ever in hiring raw talent’; and this speaks of bright prospects of budding IT professionals.” Mr Mittal further mentioned that the students need to develop an appetite for setting and meeting higher benchmarks as the companies are getting more demanding with respect to technical expertise on the part of the students. He said, “As talented students are available at LPU, so many more renowned companies are in pipe line to conduct placement drive at LPU campus. Recently AON Hewitt selected 161 Technical students from LPU at a very good package.
Reacting to the happy news, the successful students of LPU attributed their success to the untiring efforts of the faculty team. Some of the selected students Garima, Sanjay, Gaurav, Ankit and Soloni said that IT sector in India is growing and we are happy to be part of this growth saga. They all further added that to clear such stringent selection process students need to work hard and should be able to have huge appetite for learning”.


Nine students of Lovely Professional University have got selected as Trainee Software Engineers by MOTHERSONSUMI INFOTECH AND DESIGNS LIMITED under a Joint campus Placement Drive.  It had invited B.Tech CSE/ IT students of Batch 2011. The Drive was conducted meticulously at Shri Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium of the University. Many students of other educational institutions had also undergone the Selection Criteria. The selected ones will join their duties in the month of June 2011. The salary package offered is 3.0 Lac per annum.

On this occasion, the Director-General of the University, Er HR Singla said: “The hard working students have suitably availed of the opportunity offered by the famous establishment. They have really grabbed a golden chance to serve and grow on great lines under a very good start with such a company. We wish that these students may add more and more lustre to their career in future.”

Some of the selected students Amanjot Singh, Mukesh Pathak & Surya Khanna said jointly: “This selection is going to make us grow and design our future in such a way that many other career opportunities will certainly come to us, if we continue working hard as guided and motivated at the University.”

For the first time in the history of Punjab ,15 top – HR Managers and people from the realms of HR Departments of Big – Groups like Reliance Industries , Shopper Stop , HP , Maruti Suzuki , TCS , sat together and devised to enhance the quality of education and Students by connecting Universities to Industries.The two days event ‘The Bridge – HR Summit’ organized by LPU in the university has made it possible . Also more than two hundred educationists, professors, placement coordinators from different institutes across India come to witness this event.

The Experts in the event elaborated front-line tactics to implement , adapt or scale other’s best practices and  techniques. They  shared  their thoughts on what Corporate do look forward to in freshers , effective education system in Universities , personal improvement in the initial formative years , awareness among students about diverse companies , why companies should give B/C class Institutes a chance and Industrial Training etc.

On this occasion ,in his key-note address, Dr.Nand Kishore Rathi , Chief Navigating Officer, Loratis , conveyed the message specially to the budding managers,  “One is not powerful by position. It is by virtue of knowledge . And , a smart one always learns from others. Also, learn to cope with the complex situations and be ever ready to find a solution .” Whereas , Mr. Pramath  Nath, HR Business Partner for Asia , Pacific and Japan , Hewlett Packard GBS explained by taking examples of the characters from the Bible ,  Myths ,History , Sports And day to day life, “One should have ability to apply knowledge and not to  ,work on the face value only . One should build oneself as a brand . Never be any complex ridden ; Learn to transmit and translate things to others .”

One of the participants  , Ms. Shilpa Dogra said : “ I have ,of course gained much from this initiative . The experts provided the best tactics to be fully fit in a system running totally on modern trends .”  Another himself belonging to the HR Department of the University, said : “I have imbibed completely their very positive idea of adapting and scaling others’ best practices and techniques.”

On this drive ,Sh. Ashok Mittal , Chancellor of LPU said : “To be in parallel with emerging trends ; it has become an urgent need of the hour to regularly upgrade and enhance the quality whether in terms of employees or other related aspects . This ‘Summit’ is going to give much to all those who want to be well abreast of the traditions of the ever changing time, Further he added that LPU has signed MOU with HP and reliance for better collaboration in the area of conducting trainings, workshops and placement drives.

The students were selected after rigorous selection criteria involving written test, subject-based interview and general interview. Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, Executive Dean-LPU that a number of companies visiting the campus will rise during the year to ensure placement of all the students.

Mini Job Fest at LPU

It was placement time for students of Lovely Professional University, as five companies visited their campus to participate in the Mini Job Fest on 28 December 2009. Among the various companies that participated in the fest were Advik Laboratories (Pharmaceuticals), Deep Blue Express (Logistics), Lakhani Footwears (Life Style), Global Ventures (Furniture Exports) and Inter Biotech (Biotech). A total of 60 students were short listed from various domains of learning viz. Mechanical engineering, Electronics engineering, Marketing Management etc.  

The companies selected the professionals by putting in place varied selection criteria. Some chose the students purely on the basis of interview, while others were up with written examination as well. Global Ventures and Deep Blue Express lead the pack with 14 short-listings each. The annual pay packages accorded to the students were to the tune of  Rs. 2.5 lakhs.


LPU will be holding more such fests as the academic session progresses. Many companies are evincing strong interest in students from LPU, and LPU is hopeful of a record number of placements this year.  Placement season usually picks up heat by end of February, and a pleasantly good number of placements are expected for the final year students, before the batches pass out.

Infosys – the pioneer of Indian IT Industry, in a massive recruitment drive, hired 60 students of LPU in one go, at  an annual pay package of Rs. 3.25 lakh for various high end jobs in different technical domains of their operations. This is one of the most glaring feats of LPU’s students on the front of placements wherein such high number of passing out graduate and post graduate students have been offered jobs by the elite company. Students from final year B. Tech (All streams) and MCA with a minimum of 65% marks in their respective courses were eligible to take part in the selection drive provided they did not have any backlog and must have secured 1st Division marks in 10th and 12th class.

The students are very happy to get break with a company that has been adjudged as the best private sector employer of the country and  are  excited as they will be a part of one of the most respected companies of India.

The selection process was as elaborate as the eligibility criteria, with pre-placement talks and “Question-Answer session” marking the start of the day. The test of arithmetic reasoning and analytical thinking was the first session of the test, which was followed by a comprehensive test of communicative English. The personal interview was the last hurdle in which the students were checked on the psychological aspect of their personality. The results were declared in the later part of the day with 60 LPU students making it to the list of successful students. Infosys has been a regular recruiter of LPU students, and the current placement was an extension of the unsaid tradition of Infosys of selecting high number of students from LPU Campus.

Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, Executive Dean-LPU, congratulated the successful students  and said that the economic stagnancy prevalent in the west is on the wane, and this spells bright prospects for the Indian IT industry. Soon, the Indian companies will be flooded with new projects, which mean lots of employment opportunities for budding engineers from IT field. She also said that will bring in other big names of from the Indian IT industry to the campus for the recruitment, and will hold special training programs for its students to fine tune their technical and psychological skills to grab the most of the ensuing opportunities.” LPU has chalked out a detailed plan of brining in the best companies from IT sector to capitalize on the optimistic scenario that has evolved with the reversal of economy

Net Profit Consultancy Pvt Ltd. (NPCL) organized a placement camp at Lovely Professional University in which  20 students of Lovely Professional University, Phagwara got placed with the company at an attractive pay package of Rs. 4.6 lakhs per annum. The selected students belonged to final years of MBA, B Tech (CSE & IT) and MCA. The selections were made after a rigorous schedule comprising of aptitude test, group discussion and final interview. The postings for the B.Tech students will be based at Gwalior whereas the MBA graduates will handle various offices spread across Northern India.
The company hired the students to various positions like HR Executive, Asst. Manager (Retail), Asst. Manager ( Back Office), Relationship Manager, Portfolio Manager, Programmer, Software Developer, Database Developer, Web Designer etc.
